Our Mission

Pear Shaped Press is a feminist trade press with the main objective of bringing empowering stories about women, written (mostly) by women, to the world. While our current focus is non-fiction, our books range in genre from collections (which include essays, short stories, letters, and poetry), memoirs, journalistic non-fiction, and we will eventually publish fiction as well. Our books are aimed mostly at an adult audience, but we also wish to remain accessible to the younger generation, as we believe they are the most in need of inspiring stories about women in this day and age.

While we are a trade publisher, we will be partnering with a different non-profit organization for each of our collections. We hope to work with these organizations not only to help curate some of the content for the collections themselves, but to help them continue to empower women and girls around the country by donating half of our ebook proceeds from each project to the selected group. If you are a nonprofit organization interested in working with us on one of our upcoming collections, we would love to hear from you. Please use our contact page to get in touch with us and let us know which project you’re interested in and why you would be a good fit. If you work with a group of talented female writers and have an idea for a new collection, feel free to pitch us those ideas as well!

Ladies of Pear Shaped Press

Here at Pear Shaped Press, we run everything together as the original founders and pioneers of this unique publishing venture, but each of us brings our own unique strengths and passions to each project. Meet our team of strong, independent women publishers!
