Here at Pear Shaped Press we are always looking for new and engaging stories written by women, for women, about women. While we are mostly interested in adult non-fiction, including memoir and long-form journalism about feminist topics, our first project will be a collection aimed at teens looking to explore feminism and what it means to be a woman. We aim to produce works that are all-inclusive and encompass the wide range of the female experience.

The current books in our pipeline collections and we are actively seeking submissions for the latter. Please see the details for each of these projects below.

Please note that we only accept short-form submissions (poetry, short-stories, essays, etc.) during these collection call-outs. We do, however, accept unsolicited submissions of manuscripts, primarily non-fiction, between 30,000 and 100,000 words.

For unsolicited manuscripts, please send a query letter first, detailing your background/area of expertise, a short description of your project, comparative titles, and how you think the book fits into the demand for feminist stories and any ideas you might have for marketing (if you are active on social media, please outline this as well—it is extremely beneficial for a small press).

Please send all submissions in PDF or Word format to pearshapedpress@gmail.com and include “Submission for” and the specific project or genre in the tagline. We look forward to hearing from you, and reading stories from the powerful women we hope to give a stronger voice to.

Note: Unfortunately at this point in time we are unable to pay our contributors for their accepted content. (As this is our first round of collections, even our editorial team is unpaid and the funds currently come out of our personal pockets to cover costs to keep the press running.) However, we are able to offer our writers a free copy of the ebook! We do hope to pay our lovely contributors in the future…so help us keep the wheels moving by submitting and getting word out about Pear Shaped Press.
