Here at Pear Shaped Press, our mission is to bring stories about women, written mostly by women, to the world. Our books range in genre from collections (which include essays, short stories, letters, and poetry), memoirs, journalistic non-fiction, and eventually we intend to include fiction as well. Our books are aimed mostly at an adult audience, but we wish to remain accessible to the younger generation as well, as we believe they are likely the most in need of inspiring stories about women in this day and age. Our first collection, A Teenager’s Guide to Feminism, is an exception to this in that it is targeted at a younger audience, and will include writings from teens as well, and we are learning a great deal from this project about how eager teens are to embrace the empowerment of the female voice.

We do accept unsolicited submissions, but we also do call-outs for specific projects, such as for our collections. We only accept poetry and other short forms of writing during call-outs for collections, but we are happy to take suggestions for new collections. We currently are looking for non-fiction, memoir, and long-form journalism submissions.

Please see our Submissions page for more information on our current call-outs and information on how to submit your queries and manuscripts. Thank you.
